About Toni Brand PHD

An experienced graduate researcher, Toni Brand, PhD, now teaches science to seventh and eighth graders at Mount Tamalpais School in Mill Valley, California. Toni Brand, PhD, draws on her professional experience to create her own hands-on curriculum for
students in chemistry and life sciences. She previously taught biology at Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco and at the San Francisco Day School. She also instructed advanced placement biology and chemistry students for TutorCorps.
In addition, Dr. Brand has participated in several professional development initiatives, such as the Summer Academy for Issues and Science and the Women + Leadership Workshop. While at Abraham Lincoln, her pedagogy was supported by an EnCorps Teaching Fellowship. She also contributes to a monthly Teaching Lab and is preparing to launch a podcast for new science educators. In 2018, Dr. Brand participated in an online teaching strategies course for Trinity College.
In addition to earning her PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Brand served as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California-San Francisco. She previously earned her undergraduate science degree at UC-Santa Barbara. In her spare time, she enjoys Star Wars and spending time with her rescue dog, Otis.
